About the tour

We leave the usual tourist paths behind and take you deep into Iceland, exploring hidden corners and traveling off-road to reach the island’s most stunning landscapes, the Highlands, a truly exclusive area accessible only in summer and only with specially equipped vehicles, an experience few travelers ever get to see.

This 8-day adventure is designed to give you the most authentic and complete Icelandic experience. You’ll dive into local culture, meet Icelanders, and understand the deep connection between the land and its people.

We’ll explore it all: waterfalls, geothermal areas, mountains, glaciers, lava fields, lava tunnels, and natural hot springs. Hike, soak, and wander through landscapes that feel otherworldly, making sure you don’t miss a thing.

By the end, you won’t just have seen Iceland, you’ll have lived it, felt it, and understood it like few ever do.

Day 1 – Lava Tunnels, Thingvellir & Geothermal Adventure

We start early with a short drive to one of Iceland’s biggest lava tunnels, descending 20 meters to explore its fascinating underground world. A thrilling introduction to Iceland from the very beginning.

Next, we visit Thingvellir National Park, the heart of Iceland’s history, where nature, culture, and geology merge. Walking here, you’ll see the forces that shaped the island and the story behind its early settlements.

Then it’s off to Hvervellir Geothermal Park, one of the most impressive and least-visited areas of the Highlands. Hike scenic trails, soak in natural hot tubs, and see why locals proudly say, “Iceland is alive.”

Dinner is a shared experience: we cook and taste traditional Icelandic lamb soup, connecting with local flavors. Accommodation is in cozy huts with shared dorms and bathrooms, simple, friendly, and close to nature.



Day 2 – Kerlingarfjöll & Highlands Adventure

We’re heading to Kerlingarfjöll, deep in the Highlands a remote corner of Iceland few ever visit. We’ll get there off-road in a specially equipped vehicle, taking a slow, thrilling journey where every mile is worth it.

Once there, explore bizarre, colorful landscapes and follow trails to the best photo spots. We’ll take a guided tour of the geothermal park, learning how the ground works and the amazing natural phenomena around us.

After a full day of adventure, enjoy a traditional Icelandic dinnerand stay overnight in a mountain hut with shared rooms and bathrooms, embracing the true Icelandic spirit. Soak in natural hot tubs to unwind in this hidden paradise.



Day 3 – Fjallabaki Natural Reserve

Today we explore the Fjallabaki Natural Reserve, one of the wildest and least-visited areas of the Icelandic Highlands. Getting there means traveling off-road through rugged terrain, slow, adventurous, and absolutely worth it.

Here, the landscape is all about dramatic contrasts: endless lava fields and black sand deserts meet vibrant geothermal valleys and steaming hot springs. The mountains, shaped by rhyolite and obsidian, glow in shades of green, blue, pink, red, and yellow almost surreal.

After a full day immersed in raw wilderness, enjoy a traditional Icelandic dinner and stay overnight in a mountain hut with shared rooms and bathrooms, a simple and authentic experience reflecting Iceland’s spirit.



Day 4 – Vatnajökull & Glacier Wonders

After breakfast at the mountain hut, we drive toward Vatnajökull, the largest glacier in Europe. A short walk takes us to Skaftafell glacier tongue or Svartifoss, where the iconic hexagonal basalt columns appear—raw geology at its finest.

Next, we visit Jökulsárlón Glacier Lagoon and Diamond Beach, where icebergs drift and waves crash in perfect photo opportunities. You’ll have time to explore on your own or take optional adventures like kayaking among icebergs, boat tours, or glacier hikes (bookable in advance).

We finish the day in Höfn, with accommodation in a comfortable 3- or 4-star hotel included. In the evening, enjoy a relaxed stroll through this cozy coastal town after a day packed with ice and adventure.



Day 5 – Eastfjords & Historical Farm

After breakfast, we drive north through the Eastfjords, one of Iceland’s most scenic and least-traveled routes, with mountains plunging into the sea at every turn.

We pass through charming villages like Djúpivogur and Seyðisfjörðurbefore reaching a restored farmthat now serves as accommodation and interpretation center. A guided visit is included, giving you a glimpse into how Icelanders once faced the harsh landscape.

Dinner is included, letting you enjoy traditional Icelandic cuisinein this unique setting. We stay at the farm in shared dormitories and bathrooms, turning your night into a genuine journey back in time.



Day 6 – Hengifoss, Stuðlagil & Dimmuborgir

After breakfast at the farm, we drive to Hengifoss, one of Iceland’s strangest waterfalls and a perfect spot to study geology at a younger stage.

Next, visit Stuðlagil Canyon, a highlight of the trip and a photographer’s dream. Walk through the canyon, admire its basalt columns, and learn how the landscape was formed.

A short walk later, we reach Dimmuborgir, the legendary home of Icelandic trolls. This surreal lava field feels like stepping into a fairy tale, where imagination runs wild.

We end the day in Akureyri, Iceland’s second-largest city, with accommodation in a 3- or 4-star hotel included. Evening free to explore its colorful streets.



Day 7 – Northfjords & Kolugljúfur Canyon

After breakfast, we drive through the Northfjords. Our first stop is Siglufjörður, with towering mountains, deep fjords, and breathtaking panoramic views at every turn.

Next, visit Hofsós, the black town, where charming village streets meet wild scenery and we’ll spot hexagonal basalt columns from a new perspective.

Before reaching our final stop, take a moment to relax at Kolugljúfur Canyon, a place so stunning it’s hard to believe we’re still on Earth.

Tonight, we stay in Búðardalur, the gateway to the Westfjords, with accommodation included in shared double rooms. Evening free to explore, enjoy dinner, or soak in a local hot spring.



Day 8 – Snæfellsnes Peninsula & Reykjavík

We spend the day exploring the Snæfellsnes Peninsula, one of Iceland’s most magical regions. After breakfast, we start with a visit to a lava field from a completely new perspective jumping right into it!

Next, we stop at Kirkjufell, one of the most photographed mountains in Iceland and a world-famous Game of Thrones location.

The true highlight is Snæfellsjökull, the legendary volcano that inspired Jules Verne’s Journey to the Centre of the Earth. Get up close to an explosive volcano, now fully understood after a week of geology lessons on the road.

We continue to Djúpalónsandur Beach, the village of Arnarstapi, and the seal-rich shores of Ytri Tunga.

Finally, we drive to Reykjavík, where the tour concludes leaving you with memories of mountains, glaciers, lava fields, and the raw power of Iceland.
