Into Iceland
About the tour
This tour is designed as your first, meaningful encounter with Iceland. To truly understand this place, you sometimes have to step away from the usual routes and the most popular stops. We take you beyond the surface and introduce you to the heart of the island and its people. You’ll discover what makes Iceland unique, how its society came to be, and how Icelanders relate to their environment.
Along the way, we slow down, ask questions, share stories, and enjoy the Icelandic way: relaxing in a natural hot spring, where nature itself becomes part of daily life.
And the surprises don’t stop there: with your tour a Reykjavik24 card is included, it lets you keep exploring Iceland on your own. Walk through museums to bring the stories of the tour to life, hop on buses to see hidden corners of the city, or relax in public pools like a local. It’s the perfect way to connect everything you experienced on the tour and enjoy a second day of discovery.

We start the day in Reykjavík and head toward Seltún, one of the region’s most active geothermal areas. As we walk through the landscape, we explore the natural forces that shaped Iceland and how locals have learned to live alongside them.
After a short drive, we reach one of the island’s largest lava tubes. Descending around 20 meters underground, we get a first-hand look at how volcanic activity formed the land from the inside out.
Our next stop is a natural hot river, a place locals use year-round. Even on the coldest days, these warm waters are part of everyday life in Iceland. We spend about two hours here, relaxing, soaking, and enjoying the surroundings.
The journey continues along a scenic route to Þingvellir, the birthplace of Icelandic society. Here, geology and history come together as we explore the origins of the country, hear stories from the sagas, and stand where the North American and Eurasian tectonic plates slowly drift apart bringing the experience full circle.
